Set In 1964, once the death of his wife, Ip Man discovers he has throat cancer due to smoking. After his radical son Ip Ching fights assist adjoining a bully, he gets expelled, and Ip decides to travel to San Francisco, allied States to see for a school. The battle is disrupted by an earthquake, and Wan tells Ip they will finish their battle at the upcoming Mid Autumn Festival. Ip refuses, explaining that he merely escorted his daughter home for her safety, and leaves. Becky complains to her parents that she had been bullied. Her dad Walters, who is an overseer of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, is pressured into holding the association blamed and deporting every Chinese allied once them. Meanwhile, Hartman, a Staff Sergeant in the allied States Marines, attempts to persuade Barton Geddes, the Gunnery Sergeant, to incorporate Chinese martial arts into their hand-to-hand skirmish training. Geddes proves that the Marines' current Karate training is cutting edge by asking him to battle the Marines' Karate instructor, Colin Frater, who defeats Hartman. Due to a tip-off by a student of Lee, the association is left empty by the times the immigration officers skirmish the place. Lee provides refuge for the Association, earning their respect. Wan is seriously upset from the battle once Geddes. Ip, filled once emotions, finally reveals to his son that he has cancer, which finally allows him to talk to his dad on top of the phone after many attempts by Ip. Ip is brought into the Marines' camp by Hartman, and defeats Geddes in a fight. Wan has already prepared the letter for Ip, but the latter said that he does not objective to put on to San Francisco as he does not once the place. Ip reconciles once his son. A strong but tired Ip instructs his son to film him as he demonstrates Wing Chun upon the wooden dummy. Ip succumbs to his cancer, and it is revealed in the epilogue that the Marines had officially incorporated Chinese martial arts into their routine in 2001.
